It's Every Day
For Student Affairs departments, environmental matters are important every day:
- Adele H. Stamp Student Union
See the effort to go green in the Union!

- Campus Recreation Services
We overhauled our floor refinishing program, installed a water saving irrigation system on playing fields, and initiated a
comprehensive lighting retrofit to save energy.
- Career Center
We are conscientious about recycling and saving energy in our
offices. We held a Green Industry Job Fair in October
2007.
-
Conferences and Visitor Services
We seek to reduce, reuse, and recycle in our administrative functions and throughout every event we sponsor.
-
Dining Services
The newest program is "Y Bottle?" part of the program eliminating the sale of bottled water in dining Halls and
offering triple filtered water for use in individuals' reusable water bottles.
We promote biodiesel by donating waste cooking oil, conservation, waste reduction, and
composting 9,000 pounds of food waste per week and donating surplus food.
-
Fraternity and Sorority Life
Greek Terps Recycle!
- Golf Course
We are certified by Audubon International as a Wildlife
Sanctuary!
We changed the type of grass we plant to have drought-resistant turf we don't have to water and we are
extremely judicious about the use of any chemical, including hand applying fertilizers.
-
Health Center
We have an on-going recycling and environmental competition for all staff.
- Residential Facilities
Our Green Cleaning program means earth friendly, non toxic cleaning products are used in all residence halls.
-

environmentally oriented faculty and students http://www.ecohouse.umd.edu/.
-
Student Conduct
Environmental responsibility is a component of integrity.
